Purpose + Gifts + Passion
"Why am I here?" is one of the questions people ask. Pop culture has given answers like, "Do whatever makes you happy," and "Do something good for the
world," but many have found this as empty as it really is because the only sure answers to life’s questions are found in the Bible. However, a woman who has defined her purpose, knows
how God has gifted her, and recognizes what she’s passionate about will experience great joy and fulfillment.
Easier said than done! Perhaps you’re still struggling with this. An
important first step is to write a concise purpose statement that encompasses who you are. Lori Goertzen will be at the next Royal Treasure symposium to assist women who are interested in
developing their own statement.
Understanding one’s giftedness is another key component. The Bible teaches that followers of Christ have all been given special abilities, known as
spiritual gifts, to enable them to serve Him more effectively. George Barna of the Barna Research Group says, "Imagine what might happen if even half of all believers had a clear and
firm conviction that God has given them a supernatural ability to serve Him in a specific manner.. ..the global impact of the Christian body would be multiplied substantially...and it could
ignite a movement of service and influence unlike anything we have experienced during our lifetime." His research shows increasing confusion and uncertainty about spiritual gifts among
adult born again believers. In the past five years, the percentage who believe they have not been given any gift has jumped from 4% to 21%. And many believe these gifts include non-biblical
ones like a sense of humor, patience, the ability to listen, the ability to write and friendliness.
Char Lindner, board member and trained facilitator, will be at the next symposium
to assist women to better understand their giftedness and their heart’s passion. as they enter into what God opens up before them.
Women who combine purpose, gifts and passion in the
way God intended for them will lead lives of significance and focus. They will have the ability to evaluate every activity, opportunity or request against the yardstick of "This is what
I am about," and, in the end, there will be certainty that they led lives of significance.
