Journey to Stewardship June Hunt's Personal Story
June grew up attending church and always put something in the offering
plate. When she finally gave her life to the Lord, she experienced a profound difference. It was like going from darkness into light and gave purpose to her life. Goals are the means to
achieving a purpose and she started looking at her goals and those of others. Was giving done for affection, respect, admiration, or fame? She knew that "The earth is the Lord's and
everything in it." Ps 24:1 and as a steward she was to manage all God's resources at her disposal according to His purposes.
For herself, she developed an inner and an outer
purpose. The inner one was to gain as much wisdom and knowledge of God as possible. Her outer purpose was to share with the largest number of people the difference that Christ can make.
With this purpose in mind, June made a priority any conference, book or other tool that would help her and then to work out her outer purpose, she involved herself in youth work, and
eventually Bible-based, practical counseling.
She realizes that you can always do things God's way, or your own way. Often you need to do some pruning in your life of the things with
which you are involved in order to become a better steward. Learn how to say "no" to people so that you can say "yes" to God. Some things you are asked to do are perfectly
good in themselves, but just don't fit with what God has called you to do. To say "no" to an invitation, you might tell the person, "How wonderful that you are doing this.
However, I am so heavily committed in other areas that I can't, in good conscience, add another." This exhibits agape love which seeks the other's highest good and keeps you focused on
the purpose to which God has called you. June has been blessed with many opportunities to sing and speak and gives any income derived from this to foreign missions.
Stewardship is a GIFT:
G enerosity. If you are going to make a mistake, always err on the side of generosity. It is important to us to give. Prov.11:3
I ntegrity in your life. Practice ethics in every area.
F aith. Do not be concerned about the things that are God's business to take care of.
Trustworthiness. "Whoever
can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much..." Luke 16:10a
