Prayer-As a Job
Linda Weaver had an inspiring story to tell of faith, love and prayer. Linda and her husband Bill were both executives in the oil industry in Oklahoma when, a year after they were
married, they lost everything. They both had children from previous marriages and decided that, instead of Linda looking for another job, she should invest the time she would spend in an
office in prayer. She prayed eight hours a day for three years while God more than made up what she would have made in salary. Linda listened to hours of scripture tapes and she and Bill
together found that fasting humbled them, purified their faith and made them more sensitive to the Spirit. They received much in the way of material wealth and were faithful stewards to pass
it on as God directed.
One day in 1995 Bill said, "The Lord is impressing me to finish my business commitments EARLY because He has something new planned for me to do on my
birthday." Bill did not know that he was scheduled for heaven on his birthday, but his business projects were finished and his house was in order. Linda, shocked at losing her best
friend and Christian companion of 23 years, turned once again to the comfort of Scripture tapes for hours each day. God has been faithful and has healed her heart and directed her on a new
path in His service.
