Erik Daniels spoke on Five Characteristics of a Blessed Steward.
1. They are joyful. They have real contentment; a condition of the heart, not of the pocketbook. They make a conscious choice to enjoy life. Realizing that the strident
consumerism of our culture is wrong (Philippians 4:11,12), they find fulfillment in a simpler lifestyle.
2. They recognize real treasure. They spend time and resources strategically on relationships with people, including their children (Psalm 78:5,6).
3. They know who provides. (Deuteronomy 8:18) They recognize that, if they are blessed with an abundance, they are simply to be conduits of God's blessing to others. These
people typically don't know exactly how much they give and don't wait until the end of the year to make their gifts.
4. They know themselves. Understanding that they have two natures (II Corinthians 13:5) within themselves and that the earthly nature has a great tendency to fall into bad
financial habits, they seek accountability in investing, debt and giving. The world, which considers these areas to be one's own private affair, does not understand this.
5. They know God. They have a hunger and passion for God's truth and developing a deep and intimate relationship with Him. (Jeremiah 9:23,24) They encourage others and
realize that the more you walk with the Lord, the more you will want to participate in what He is doing.
