Jewels In His Crown Lu Dunbar
Every ordinary woman can make a significant contribution to eternity by recognizing God's ownership of every area of her life and loving her neighbor as herself. In this issue
we are giving you a glimpse of the next symposium. Our January newsletter will contain information about the full program, including additional speakers, along with the symposium brochure. We
will look at how we might each release the creative spirit that is within us, and use our creative ability in the stewardship of our treasure, time, and talent for God's glory.
An
article in The New York Times, on October 20, 1999 indicates that Boston College researchers have released a new study indicating that the widely cited estimate of $10.4 trillion of wealth to
be transferred to younger generations over the next half-century is far short of the likely amount. This new study looked at all Americans who were at least 18 in 1998 and estimates wealth
transfers from 1998 to 2052 when the youngest in the study will turn 73. They estimate the wealth transfer will be $41 trillion to $136 trillion. This study only measures private, not public
or independent sector wealth! This indicates that children of the next two to three generations will steward a lot more wealth than we might have imagined. All this to say, there is a lot of
wealth in this country.
As Christian women stewards, who recognize God's ownership of everything, I believe we have an awesome opportunity, privilege and responsibility. Thus an
emphasis of this symposium will be on the opportunities for stewardship that God is placing before us to educate, encourage, and mentor the coming generations. A panel of younger women who
will tell us some of the challenges they face in their generation as they look at the 21st century.
We would like to encourage moms and daughters or daughters-in-law to attend
together as we consider the opportunities we have to make a significant contribution to our families, our communities and our world. Just as Queen Esther had no idea that she had been chosen
as an instrument to impact change for all eternity, we have been chosen to impact change for people around the world. There will also be time to pray together and meet with Royal Treasure
Board members to "glean" from their individual perspectives and wisdom. Participating in this weekend will be an enriching, stretching, and encouraging experience as we learn how to
steward our own giftedness and treasure to make a significant contribution to God's mission. Mark your calendar now for February 24-27, 2000 in Atlanta, GA for the next Royal Treasure
Symposium.
